SB1: Shape

This week we looked at basic shapes, I decided to stick with body parts and simplify the body down to triangles and circles. I decided to take some of the ones I liked best and put them inside circles for a frame. I think it worked quite nice. It also gave me an oppurtunity to use my markers again to make bold solid shapes.

After a few weeks of drawing anatomy, I feel like I'm improving on my drawing. I enjoyed just drawing a little figure walking around and mixing shape with a little bit of mark making from last week. The solid blue ink works really well with this.

I also experimented with watercolour. I was thinking about elements that make a models face (after staring at them so long i tried to pick out similarities and show them in the form of shape on the face) and I was thinking about the shapes inside a models purse.

I also was thinking about how legs move and different positions for models. These were all easy and quite fun to draw. I enjoyed using the watercolour as something to fill shapes with. I also had a look at different hairstyles and drew those as shapes.

I spent some time thinking about how they would move. I also tried to draw some skeletons just using shapes.

I liked how this task made me see things as a whole rather than a silhouette (line) or miniature details (mark making) and thinking about simplifying things down. This really helped progress my stamps further on in my work as it helped me think about a picture as a whole and not to get to hung up on details.
