Carrying on from last weeks Shape, we started to think about shape combined with texture. I played around with a first few initial feelings, using black to show a shape and fineliners for a texture. Then I decided to pick sowing as a texture, it was time consuming but I liked how it looked.

I also experimented with some brusho for the textures. This one here (yellow swipe dress) is a result of the brusho going onto the table and me using the paper to mop it up. Before I threw the piece of paper away I decided to draw a figure underneath.

I then decided to carry this idea by drawing figures behind pieces of texture I found. This is some netting I found in the screenprint room and salvaged. I thought it worked well as an idea as often haute couture is very unique and in random shapes as opposed to real everyday fashion.
Moving on from this I looked at Alexander McQueen's fashion shows from 2010 upwards to look for shapes in dresses. He is one of the more outlandish designers and his work was a good reference. I used some collage in making the dresses to keep the theme of shape in but to also add in texture and keep it sharp.
This one is an example of where I mixed the netting in with the brusho to create a dress, I really liked the colours in this one and the result of the textures together.

I stepped away from dresses for a while and thought about scenery and props to haute couture (above is a fashion show).

I returned to the notion of the sowing which worked really nicely over some textures (see camera) and not so well on others (the blue brusho with a pink sown person overlayed).

I also tried a few things I wasnt sure about, this one is meant to show one woman wearing a dress whilst the other is naked. I dont like it particularly but I was just testing the waters.
This one is a continuation of the idea of using tracing paper to overlay (as I tried out in the SB1:Line unsuccesfully). This works slightly better as it combines a few layers but I think I could have picked a more structured object to try this out on for a better result.
This is the most successful piece I did for this task as I think using the brusho to turn into dresses just worked really well and I would like to go back and do some more of this.
