Secret 7: Dreamscape

DREAMSCAPE

The inspiration for this album cover was also Tame Impala's 'The Less I know The Better' but in the end it also got applied to Max Richter's 'Dream 3'.
I was still thinking about the concept for time when I was creating this piece, but decided to stick to nature and planets when I was making this one. I was in a garden centre when I saw a sun plate and that's the beginning point for this cover. I went home and researched sun plates, I wanted to make something based around that because the sun is a way for humans to judge time (wasted or used well).

I made the piece from gouache and some acrylic, I used warm sunny tones that decorated the sun plates i'd looked at and also decided to have the sun watching the characters. I chose a strange landscape so it could be a desert or a sea depending on what you wanted to see. Then I drew the characters, I tried to make it so they looked like they were pulling away but still connected (as thats how I felt about the song).

Again I took this into photoshop to adjust the levels, I made it brighter and added more contrast. I submitted the coloured verson for Tame Impala as I felt it was the bright and weird and thats how I felt about the song.
When I was tinkering around with the image, I made it grayscale by accident but found that I actually liked that. I left negative space around this image so if it was on an album cover it would have a white border. I submitted the greyscale one for Max Richter's Dream 3 as I thought it reflected having a dream (not very realistic).
